Lionel Andrés Messi Cuccittini (born June 24, 1987) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a forward for Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain and captains the Argentina national team. Often considered the greatest player of all time, Messi has won a record seven Ballon d'Or awards, a record six European Golden Shoes, and in 2020 was named to the Ballon d'Or Dream Team.
Messi was born in Rosario, Argentina, and began playing football at a young age. He joined the Barcelona youth academy at the age of 13, and made his debut for the club's first team in 2004. Messi quickly became one of the best players in the world, and helped Barcelona win numerous trophies, including 10 La Liga titles, four UEFA Champions League titles, and seven Copa del Rey titles.
