Djibril Sow

Djibril Sow (born 6 February 1997) is a Swiss professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt and the Switzerland national team.

Club career

Sow began his career with FC Zürich, making his debut in the Swiss Super League in 2015. He spent three seasons with the club, making 84 appearances and scoring seven goals.

In 2017, Sow transferred to Borussia Mönchengladbach for a fee of €10 million. He made his debut for the club in the Bundesliga on 19 August 2017, starting in a 1–0 defeat to Bayern Munich. Sow scored his first goal for Mönchengladbach on 2 December 2017, in a 2–1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt.

In 2019, Sow joined Eintracht Frankfurt on loan for the 2019–20 season. He made 32 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring four goals.

On 15 June 2020, Sow joined Eintracht Frankfurt on a permanent basis for a fee of €10 million. He signed a four-year contract with the club.

International career

Sow has represented Switzerland at various youth levels. He made his debut for the senior team on 8 September 2018, in a UEFA Nations League match against Iceland. Sow scored his first goal for Switzerland on 15 November 2019, in a 2–1 win over Georgia.

Sow was included in Switzerland's squad for the 2020 Summer Olympics. He made three appearances for the team in the tournament, as they reached the quarter-finals.

Playing style

Sow is a versatile midfielder who can play in a variety of positions. He is known for his passing ability, dribbling skills, and work rate. Sow has been compared to former Swiss international Johan Vogel.
