Anna Vissi is a Cypriot singer, songwriter and actress. She is one of the most popular and successful singers in Greece and Cyprus, and has also achieved success in other countries such as Turkey, Lebanon, and Egypt. Vissi has represented Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest twice, in 1980 and 1982.
Vissi began her career as a singer in 1973, when she joined the Cypriot group Aphrodite's Child. She left the group in 1975 and began her solo career. In 1980, she represented Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Autostop". She finished 13th. In 1982, she represented Cyprus again at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Mono i agapi". She finished 5th.
Vissi has released over 20 albums throughout her career. Her most successful albums include "Kati Simveni" (1985), "Dodeka" (1991), "Fotia" (1994), and "Everything I Am" (1997). She has also won numerous awards, including the Arion Music Awards for Best Female Singer in 1985, 1991, and 1994.
In addition to her singing career, Vissi has also acted in several films and television shows. Some of her most notable roles include the lead role in the Greek film "To Klama Vγήke Ap' ton Paradeiso" (1989) and the supporting role in the American film "Showgirls" (1995).
Vissi is married to Nikos Karvelas, a Greek singer-songwriter. They have two children together, a daughter named Sofia and a son named Nikolas.
