Gerónimo Rulli
Gerónimo Rulli (born 20 May 1992) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for La Liga club Villarreal and the Argentina national team.
Club career Early career Rulli began his career at Estudiantes de La Plata, where he made his professional debut in 2011. He was part of the team that won the 2011 Copa Libertadores and the 2013 Argentine Primera División championship.
In 2013, he was transferred to Deportivo Maldonado in Uruguay, before being loaned to Real Sociedad in Spain. He made his La Liga debut for Real Sociedad in the 2014–15 season, and was named the club's Player of the Season.
In 2015, he was signed by Manchester City, but was immediately loaned back to Real Sociedad for the 2015–16 season. He made 34 appearances for Real Sociedad in all competitions, and was named the club's Player of the Season again.
In 2016, he was loaned to Montpellier in France. He made 35 appearances for Montpellier in all competitions, and was named the club's Player of the Season.
Villarreal In 2017, Rulli joined Villarreal on a permanent deal. He has been the club's first-choice goalkeeper since then, and has made over 200 appearances for the club. He was part of the team that won the 2021 UEFA Europa League Final.
International career Rulli made his debut for the Argentina national team in 2015. He was part of the team that won the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Style of play Rulli is a tall and commanding goalkeeper who is known for his excellent reflexes and shot-stopping ability. He is also a good distributor of the ball.
