Thandie Newton
Thandiwe "Thandie" Newton (born 6 November 1972) is an English actress. She has received various accolades, including a Primetime Emmy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a BAFTA Award.
Newton was born in London, England, to a Zimbabwean mother and an English father. She began her acting career in theatre, before making her film debut in Flirting (1991). She gained recognition for her roles in the films Interview with the Vampire (1994), Mission: Impossible II (2000), Crash (2004), The Pursuit of Happyness (2006), and 2012 (2009).
Newton has also had a successful television career, starring in the series ER (1998–2000), Alias (2002–2006), and Westworld (2016–2020). She won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Westworld.
In addition to her acting career, Newton is also a vocal advocate for social justice and women's rights. She is a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme and a supporter of the Time's Up movement.
Personal life
Newton has been married to British film director Ol Parker since 1998. They have three children together. Newton is also a stepmother to Parker's two children from his previous marriage.
