Tigran Hamasyan

Tigran Hamasyan (Տիգրան Համասյան; born July 17, 1987) is an Armenian jazz pianist, composer, and bandleader. He has been praised for his innovative approach to jazz, which incorporates elements of Armenian folk music, classical music, and electronic music.

Hamasyan was born in Gyumri, Armenia. He began playing the piano at the age of three, and studied at the Yerevan State Conservatory. In 2006, he moved to New York City to study at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music.

Hamasyan has released four albums as a leader: "New Era" (2006), "An Ancient Tale" (2009), "Shadow Theater" (2013), and "Mockroot" (2015). He has also collaborated with a variety of other musicians, including Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, and John McLaughlin.
