Pol Espargaró
Pol Espargaró Villà (born 10 June 1991) is a Spanish motorcycle racer, currently competing in MotoGP for Repsol Honda Team. He is the brother of fellow Grand Prix motorcycle racer Aleix Espargaró.
Espargaró began his career in the Spanish 125GP Championship, where he finished second in 2006 and 2007. He made his Grand Prix debut in the 125cc class in 2006 at the Catalan Grand Prix, and scored his first points in the following race at Assen. He took his first podium finish in the 125cc class at the 2008 British Grand Prix, and his first victory in the class at the 2009 Portuguese Grand Prix. He finished the 2009 season in fourth place overall, with three wins and seven podium finishes.
Espargaró moved up to the Moto2 class in 2010, and finished the season in ninth place overall, with two podium finishes. He took his first Moto2 victory at the 2011 Spanish Grand Prix, and finished the season in third place overall, with three wins and seven podium finishes. He won the Moto2 championship in 2013, with four wins and eleven podium finishes.
Espargaró moved up to MotoGP in 2014, riding for the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team. He finished the season in 16th place overall, with his best result being a seventh-place finish at the Malaysian Grand Prix. He moved to the Repsol Honda Team in 2015, and finished the season in 11th place overall, with his best result being a fifth-place finish at the Australian Grand Prix. He remained with Repsol Honda in 2016, and finished the season in eighth place overall, with his best result being a fourth-place finish at the Catalan Grand Prix.
Espargaró moved to KTM in 2017, and finished the season in 15th place overall, with his best result being a ninth-place finish at the Dutch Grand Prix. He remained with KTM in 2018, and finished the season in 14th place overall, with his best result being a seventh-place finish at the Czech Republic Grand Prix. He moved to the Repsol Honda Team in 2021, and finished the season in 12th place overall, with his best result being a sixth-place finish at the Spanish Grand Prix.
Espargaró is known for his aggressive riding style and his ability to overtake other riders. He is also known for his good starts, and is often able to gain several positions in the opening laps of a race.
Espargaró is a popular rider among fans, and is often seen as one of the most exciting riders in MotoGP. He is also a role model for many young riders, and is often seen as an inspiration.
