Ryan Kwanten

Ryan Christian Kwanten (born 28 November 1981) is an Australian actor. He is best known for his roles as Vinnie Patterson in the Australian soap opera Home and Away (2002–2005), Jason Stackhouse in the HBO series True Blood (2008–2014), and Troy Burrows in the ABC series The Oath (2018).

Early life and education

Kwanten was born in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. He has two older brothers, Lloyd and Mitchell. Kwanten attended St Paul's College, Manly, and graduated in 1999. He then studied drama at the University of New South Wales, but dropped out after two years.

Career

Kwanten began his acting career in 1997, appearing in the short film Echo Point. He then had small roles in the television series Love My Way (2000) and BeastMaster (2001). In 2002, Kwanten was cast as Vinnie Patterson in the Australian soap opera Home and Away. He played the role for three years, leaving the show in 2005.

After leaving Home and Away, Kwanten moved to the United States to pursue a career in Hollywood. He had guest roles in the television series Summerland (2005), The O.C. (2005), and Veronica Mars (2006). In 2008, Kwanten was cast as Jason Stackhouse in the HBO series True Blood. The show was a critical and commercial success, and Kwanten received critical acclaim for his performance. He played the role for seven seasons, leaving the show in 2014.

Since leaving True Blood, Kwanten has appeared in the films Northmen: A Viking Saga (2014), Kidnap (2017), and Supercon (2018). He also had a leading role in the ABC series The Oath (2018).

Personal life

Kwanten has been in a relationship with model Ashley Sisino since 2013. They announced their engagement in June 2022.

Kwanten is a supporter of the Sydney Swans Australian rules football club.
