Early Life and Education:

Hugh Laurie was born in Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, to William George Ranald Mundell Laurie, a doctor, and Patricia Laidlaw (née Laurie), a homemaker.
He attended Dragon School, an independent preparatory school in Oxford, and then Eton College, a prestigious public school in Berkshire.
Laurie went on to study at Pembroke College, Cambridge, where he earned a degree in anthropology and archaeology.

Career:

Laurie began his acting career in the early 1980s, appearing in various theater productions and television shows.
He gained wider recognition in the mid-1980s for his role as Prince George in the British television series "Blackadder II".
In the 1990s, Laurie continued to appear in both British and American television shows and films, including "Jeeves and Wooster", "Sense and Sensibility", and "101 Dalmatians".

Breakthrough Role:

Laurie's breakthrough role came in 2004 when he was cast as Dr. Gregory House in the American medical drama series "House".
