Early Life and Career
Daron Malakian was born on July 18, 1975, in Hollywood, California, to Armenian parents. He began playing guitar at the age of 11, and by the time he was 15, he had formed his first band, Soil. The band released two albums before disbanding in 1998.
System of a Down
In 1994, Malakian met Serj Tankian, and the two formed System of a Down. The band released their debut album, "System of a Down", in 1998. The album was a commercial success, selling over two million copies in the United States. The band's second album, "Toxicity", was released in 2001 and was an even greater success, selling over four million copies in the United States. System of a Down has released five studio albums in total, and they have sold over 40 million albums worldwide.
Solo Career
In addition to his work with System of a Down, Malakian has also released two solo albums. His debut solo album, "Scars on Broadway", was released in 2008. The album was a commercial success, selling over 100,000 copies in the United States. His second solo album, "Dictator", was released in 2018.
