Lady Gaga (born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta; March 28, 1986) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She is known for her unconventional and provocative work, as well as her contributions to pop music. Gaga has sold 124 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time.

Gaga was born and raised in New York City. She began performing as a teenager, singing at open mics and playing piano in local clubs. She studied at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, but dropped out to pursue a music career. Gaga signed with Interscope Records in 2007 and released her debut album, The Fame, in 2008. The album was a commercial success, spawning the hit singles "Just Dance" and "Poker Face".

Gaga's follow-up album, Born This Way, was released in 2011. The album was also a commercial success, and its title track became Gaga's third consecutive number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100. Gaga's third album, Artpop, was released in 2013. The album was less commercially successful than her previous albums, but it was still certified platinum in the United States.

In 2014, Gaga released a collaborative jazz album with Tony Bennett, titled Cheek to Cheek. The album was a critical and commercial success, winning a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. Gaga's fifth studio album, Joanne, was released in 2016. The album was a commercial success, and its lead single, "Perfect Illusion", became Gaga's fourth number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100.

In addition to her music career, Gaga has also acted in several films. She made her film debut in Machete Kills (2013), and she went on to star in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014) and A Star Is Born (2018). Gaga's performance in A Star Is Born was critically acclaimed, and she won an Academy Award for Best Original Song for the film's song "Shallow".

Gaga is known for her flamboyant and outrageous fashion sense. She has been praised for her creativity and her ability to push the boundaries of fashion. Gaga is also a vocal activist for LGBTQ rights and mental health awareness.
