Novak Đoković
Novak Đoković (English: Novak Djokovic; born 22 May 1987) is a Serbian professional tennis player. He is currently ranked No. 1 in the world by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). Đoković has won 18 Grand Slam singles titles, the most by any male player in the Open Era, and is the only player in the Open Era to achieve a double career Grand Slam (winning all four Grand Slam titles at least twice). He has also won a record 37 Masters titles, 14 of which came at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 level.
Early Life and Tennis Career:
Novak Đoković was born in Belgrade, SR Serbia, SFR Yugoslavia, on 22 May 1987. He began playing tennis at the age of four, and by the age of 12, he had won several national championships in Serbia. Đoković turned professional in 2003 and quickly made a name for himself on the ATP Tour. He won his first Grand Slam singles title at the 2008 Australian Open, defeating Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the final.
Grand Slam Success:
Đoković has won 18 Grand Slam singles titles, the most by any male player in the Open Era. He has won the Australian Open nine times (2008, 2011-2013, 2015-2016, 2019-2020), Wimbledon six times (2011, 2014-2015, 2018, 2021-2022), the US Open three times (2011, 2015, 2018), and the French Open twice (2016, 2021).
Other Career Achievements:
In addition to his Grand Slam success, Đoković has also won 37 Masters titles, 14 of which came at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 level. He has also won the ATP Finals five times (2008, 2012-2015), the Davis Cup twice (2010, 2022), and the Hopman Cup three times (2008, 2011-2012). He was ranked No. 1 in the world for the first time in July 2011 and has held the top ranking for a total of 371 weeks.
