Michael Nyqvist

Michael Nyqvist (8 November 1960 – 27 June 2017) was a Swedish actor. He was known for his roles in the films Let the Right One In (2008), The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009), Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011), and John Wick (2014).

Nyqvist was born in Stockholm, Sweden. He studied acting at the Swedish National Academy of Mime and Acting from 1984 to 1987. He made his film debut in 1987 in the film Änglagård. He went on to star in numerous Swedish films and television shows, including Så vit som en snö (2001), The Guy in the Grave (2002), and The Glass Room (2009).

Nyqvist gained international recognition for his role as Mikael Blomkvist in the Swedish film series The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009), The Girl Who Played with Fire (2009), and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest (2010). He also starred in the Hollywood films Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011), John Wick (2014), and Snowden (2016).

Nyqvist died of lung cancer on 27 June 2017, at the age of 56.
