Simon Baker (born July 30, 1969) is an Australian actor, director, and producer. He is best known for his roles as Simon Moon in the television series The Mentalist (2008–2015), Nick Fallin in the television series The Guardian (2001–2004), and Christian Thompson in the television series L.A. Confidential (2018).
Baker was born in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia. He began his acting career in the early 1990s, appearing in small roles in Australian television shows and films. In 1996, he landed his first major role, as Simon Moon in the television series The Mentalist. The series was a critical and commercial success, and Baker received widespread acclaim for his performance. He was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Series – Drama in 2009 and 2010.
After The Mentalist ended in 2015, Baker starred in the television series The Guardian (2001–2004), L.A. Confidential (2018), and High Moon (2020). He also directed and produced the film Breath (2017).
Baker is married to actress Rebecca Rigg. They have three children.
