Owen Wilson
Owen Cunningham Wilson (born November 18, 1968) is an American actor, writer, and producer. He is known for playing quirky and eccentric characters in a variety of films, including The Royal Tenenbaums (2001), Zoolander (2001), and Starsky & Hutch (2004).
Wilson was born in Dallas, Texas, the son of Laura Cunningham Wilson, a photographer, and Robert Andrew Wilson, an advertising executive. He has two brothers, Andrew and Luke, who are also actors. Wilson attended St. Mark's School of Texas, where he met his future writing partner, Wes Anderson.
After graduating from St. Mark's, Wilson attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he studied English. He dropped out of college in 1990 to pursue a career in acting. He moved to Los Angeles and began taking acting classes.
Wilson's first acting role was a small part in the 1994 film Bottle Rocket, which was written and directed by Anderson. He went on to appear in a number of small roles in films such as The Cable Guy (1996), Anaconda (1997), and Armageddon (1998).
Wilson's breakthrough role came in 2000, when he starred in the comedy Shanghai Knights with Jackie Chan. The film was a commercial success and helped to establish Wilson as a leading man.
In 2001, Wilson starred in two of the most acclaimed films of his career: The Royal Tenenbaums and Zoolander.
