Early life and career
Luis Miguel was born on April 19, 1970, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Spanish singer Luisito Rey and Italian actress Marcela Basteri. He began his singing career at the age of 12, when he released his debut album, Un Sol. The album was a commercial success in Mexico and helped to launch Luis Miguel's career.
In the 1980s, Luis Miguel released a number of successful albums, including Directo al Corazón (1982), Decídete (1983), Palabra de Honor (1984), and Soy Como Quiero Ser (1987). He also starred in a number of films, including Ya Nunca Más (1984) and Fiebre de Amor (1985).
